Adoption Fees

Depending upon individual circumstances, adoption fees may vary. Adoption fees do not include a $10 rabies tag fee for all dogs and cats.

Dogs & Puppies
- Nine months of age and older, over 35 lbs: $190
- Nine months of age and older, under 35 lbs: $325
- Pit bull terriers and pit mixes five months of age and older: Adoption fees and rabies tag fee waived
- Puppies younger than nine months: $325
- Desirable breeds: $325 – Adoption fees may vary. See an adoption counselor for details.

Fees Include
- First DHPP vaccination (Distemper / Hepatitis / Parainfluenza / Parvovirus). Booster shots are required and are adopter’s financial responsibility.
- Rabies registration
- First Bordetella vaccination
- First deworming (Follow-up fecal exam recommended)
- Heartworm test (for dogs older than six months of age)
- Initial flea treatment
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Microchip identification
- Ear cleaning and nail trim
- Temporary collar, tag and leash
- Paw Perks membership
- Starter bag of Purina dog food (when available)
- Shelter, food and loving care from the Humane Society of Missouri
Cat & Kittens
- Nine months of age and older: Pick your price! Minimum $35
- Kittens younger than nine months: $150

Fees Include
- First FVRCP vaccination (Feline viral Rhinotracheitis / Calici / Panleukopenia).
- Booster shots are required and are adopter’s financial responsibility.
- Rabies registration
- Feline Leukemia test
- First deworming (Follow-up fecal exam recommended)
- Initial flea treatment
- Ear cleaning and nail trim
- Spay or neuter surgery
- Temporary collar, tag and cardboard carrier
- Microchip identification
- Paw Perks membership
- Starter bag of Purina cat food (when available)
- Shelter, food and loving care from the Humane Society of Missouri
Rabbits, Guinea Pigs & Other Critters

Since rabbits and other critters like to chew cardboard, please don’t rely on our temporary cardboard carriers to transport your new furry friend home. If you own a carrier or cage, please bring it with you. Plastic carriers are available for purchase at our St. Louis City Gift Shop.
