Humane Society of Missouri deploys Disaster Response Team to rescue animals affected by Mississippi flooding in Winfield, Mo.

Team also partners with St. Charles County to provide temporary shelter to pets displaced by flooding

The Humane Society of Missouri Disaster Response Team has deployed a four-person team to perform water and land-based animal rescue operations in the Winfield, MO area affected by recent river flooding. HSMO has received reports of multiple pets stranded on roof tops and porches of flooded buildings in the area.

The team is equipped with a climate-controlled animal rescue trailer, two boats and three trucks. With training in swift water and land rescue operations, the team is prepared for any rescue situation they may encounter. Rescued pets will be transported to HSMO Headquarters in St. Louis City for temporary sheltering.
