Let’s Celebrate Dogust!

Did you know that August is a special month for many of our shelter pups?

On Aug. 1 (and throughout the month), the Humane Society of Missouri and shelters across America celebrate Dogust – a nationwide celebration for pups whose birthdays are unknown.

Every day, dozens of pups are available for adoption at HSMO, waiting to meet their forever family and leave the shelter for good. If you’re looking to meet your new best friend, visit one of our two shelters or browse adoptable animals via our website. Right now, HSMO has a special promotion on pups 9 months and older that are more than 35 pounds. If the pup interested in fits that category, their adoption fees are $100 off! Our Animal Cruelty Task Force has brought in dozens of animals that meet that criteria in the past several weeks, and we’re hoping to help them all find their forever homes soon!

If you are unable to adopt an animal, we encourage supporters to celebrate Dogust by making a donation to our dogs as they wait for their happily ever after. You can help us in many ways, including by sending goodies straight to our doorstep via our Amazon wishlist, making a monetary donation, and dropping off donations you may already have around your home.

We’re also always looking for foster families to provide temporary homes for our animals until they’re ready to find their forever homes. These awesome volunteers provide an opportunity to grow and socialize shelter pets – from abused and neglected animals, to those displaced due to disasters and unforeseen emergencies.
