a Humane Educator for Teacher of the Year
Who is a Humane Educator?
Humane Education is a manner of teaching that promotes
respect and compassion for all living creatures. The
Humane Society of Missouri proudly presents the Humane
Teacher of the Year Award annually to a classroom
teacher who consistently incorporates humane education
into daily teaching activities by consistently.
- Showing creativity and enthusiasm in teaching
about animals and the world that we share
- Incorporating animal or environmental issues into
existing curricula
- Serving as a humane role model for students
- Working to develop kindness and compassion in
students
Criteria for nomination:
- An educator must be a currently practicing classroom
teacher who regularly employs humane education techniques
and philosophies as part of class curricula.
- Fellow teachers, principals, school administrators,
parents and students may make nominations.
- Up to three letters of support may be included.
