Humane
Society of Missouri
Auxiliary
The Humane Society of Missouri Auxiliary was formed
in 1975 by a group of dedicated individuals to raise
funds for different needs of the Humane Society of Missouri.
Their first exciting accomplishment was a pet supply
shop called "Adopt n' Shop," located within
the Macklind Avenue headquarters. This was the first
shop of its kind in the country within a humane society,
and was so successful that another shop was opened at
the Maryland Heights branch. In 1980, the Auxiliary
opened a spay/neuter clinic at the Maryland Heights
Branch. They then contributed an additional $80,000
for a wing expansion at the branch in 1981.
The Auxiliary has grown to nearly 500 members who
have generated over $300,000 to help the thousands of
unwanted and neglected animals who pass through the
doors of the Humane Society of Missouri.
