Meet the Post-Dispatch Pets of the Week!
Hi, my name is Kitty and my ID Number is A672724!
Five-year-old red tabby, Kitty is a very friendly and curious cat who is looking for a home to live out the rest of his golden years. Although he is no longer kitten-sized, Kitty is still a kitten heart who is extremely affectionate and playful with human friends of all ages. Kitty is known to be a bit of an escape artist, so his new family should keep an eye on this sneaky guy, especially around open doors or windows as this little wanderer loves to climb and explore. Kitty is litter box trained and has lived around other cats, but would be PURRfectly content snuggle solo with you!

Hi, my name is Scorpio and my ID Number is A675930!
Fifteen-year-old Appaloosa, Scorpio came to HSMO’s Longmeadow Rescue Ranch back in March severely malnourished. Despite the neglect from his previous owners, Scorpio is a very friendly horse who enjoys being around people. When he first came to the ranch, Scorpio did not appear to be broke to ride, but he happily wore a saddle. Once he reached a healthy weight, Scorpio started building his strength and fitness in the ranch’s training program, and this smart guy was ready to ride in no time.

Hi, my name is Vera and my ID Number is A674818!
Can you spot all the spots on three-year-old, Vera’s gorgeous white and brown speckled coat? This Beagle and Pointer mix can be a little shy when you first approach, but once she sniffs you out, she has no problem getting close for ear scratches, belly rubs and cuddles. Vera would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of exercise from playing a game of fetch to showing off how nicely she walks on a leash. If you’re looking for a four-legged friend with a sweet and lively spirit, Vera would love to emBARK on some new adventures with you!

Meet Leia, KSDK's Sammy Star!
Hi, my name is Leia and my ID Number is A673602!
Help her, HSMO friends. You’re three-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, Leia’s only hope to find a forever home. Leia is a gorgeous black and white beauty who is great with kids and other animals. Her previous owners could no longer provide the care and attention this calm and friendly pup needed, so they brought her to HSMO to find a family in a galaxy not so far away. Leia’s last family wrote in her profile that she is an amazing companion with a wise temperament. She is also crate trained and responds to her name, but can be a bit of an escape artist if she is left to her own devices. She lived with another dog and a cat, and is open to sharing space with some new four-legged friends. However, she would be completely content being the only pet in your galaxy!
To adopt, apply in person at HSMO’s Macklind Avenue headquarters in St. Louis City. Click here for hours and directions.
Your sponsorship will help care for Leia while she waits for the perfect home. Each homeless pet’s needs vary, but they range from spaying or neutering to vaccinations, from special food to microchipping for permanent identification.
Meet Dahlia, the Purina Pet of the Week!
Hi, my name is Dahlia and my ID Number is A675916!
Twelve-week-old Calico, Dahlia is a PURRfect patchwork of black, gold and white who is ready to chase feathers, crinkle balls, toy mice, and any other toy you’ve got! This active kitten already knows the basics of using the litter box and how to play nicely with others. Dhalia would love a family who will spend lots of time playing with her, cuddling her once she’s all tuckered out, and giving her the security of a loving, forever home.
