Meet the Post-Dispatch Pets of the Week!

Garnet-A655996

Hi, my name is Garnet and my ID Number is A655996!

Garnet is a six-month-old Domestic Medium Hair kitten as handsome as the gemstone he’s named for. Garnet is all kitten all the time – and the only thing this little guy is better at than playing is napping! Sunbeams, beds, and even your lap – nothing is safe from this napping connoisseur after a long day of pretending to be a tiger. He’d love to find a forever family to grow old with who can provide him with the simpler pleasures – a few toys, a litterbox, and plenty of affection – his imagination will do the rest. Garnet is a perfect combination of play and sleep and he’s ready to rock your world!

To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Best Buddy Center in Maryland Heights. Click here for hours and directions.

Nixon-A655035

Hi, my name is Nixon and my ID Number is A655035!

Is it a marshmallow? Is it a cloud? No – it’s just Nixon the American Eskimo dog! This eight-year-old living cotton ball weighs forty-one pounds of fluffy dog fur and love and would be overjoyed to find a family that will brush, walk, and smother him with affection. Nixon seems to prefer to use the bathroom outside and already can ‘sit’ on command – with his eager-to-please attitude and aptitude for learning we think he could definitely learn to do more! If you’re ready to snuggle up to a pet that’s as soft as your favorite pillow, come meet Nixon!

To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Chesterfield Valley Center. Click here for hours and directions.

Shadow-A656200

Hi, my name is Shadow and my ID Number is A656200!

Shadow is a three-year-old Domestic Shorthair kitty with a brown tabby coat, and although he doesn’t LOOK like a shadow, he sure does act like one! This sweet boy will follow you from room to room in search of sunlight, affection, and maybe even fish-flavored snacks. Along with his loving personality, Shadow has some incredible tufts of fur at the tips of his ears, and a purr so loud you’ll want to check outside your window for a motorcycle parade. First-time cat owner, experienced cat owner, or anyone looking for a low-key and relaxed four-legged friend – Shadow would be a purrfect fit for any family!

To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Macklind Ave. Headquarters in St. Louis City. Click here for hours and directions.

Meet Blue, KSDK's Sammy Star!

Hi, my name is Blue and my ID Number is A654189!

Blue is a powerhouse of a dog in a compact frame, with a heart full of love for his human companions. At five years old, this Olde English Bulldogge shows no signs of slowing down, and therefore he may be too much for young children. Blue is a very sweet boy who prefers to go potty outside, and he loves going for walks to explore. But since it’s summer in St. Louis, Blue needs a home where he can chill in the A/C and only exercise outdoors when it’s nice and cool – his breed is very prone to heat exhaustion! We don’t see this breed very often in the shelter, so if you’ve been looking for an Olde English Bulldogge, don’t miss out on Blue!

To adopt: Apply in person at HSMO’s Macklind Ave. Headquarters in St. Louis City. Click here for hours and directions.

Meet Bear, the Y98 FM Spotlight Pet!

Bear-A649354

Hi, my name is Bear and my ID Number is A649354!

Bear is a one-year-old Black Labrador Retriever mix who, with his cuddly personality, is more ‘teddy bear’ than ‘grizzly bear’. This big boy weighs about sixty-seven pounds with long legs matched only by his equally long (and always wagging) tail, and would love to find a family that will take him for long walks in the neighborhood so he can sniff and smell everything around him. Bear can be a little bit shy at first, but it doesn’t take long for this sweet dog to melt into a wiggly, waggy, puddle of puppy-love. Bear is a well-behaved and loving dog who can’t wait to show you the true meaning behind ‘man’s best friend’!

Meet Blue, the Purina Pet of the Week!

Blue-A654586
Purina proudly feeds the animals of the Humane Society of Missouri

Hi, my name is Blue and my ID Number is A654586!

With his gorgeous merle coat and stunning blue eyes, it’s no wonder why staff and volunteers have fallen head over heels for Blue! Blue is a six-years-young Australian Shepherd who weighs twenty-four pounds of love and fluffy dog fur. This well-natured boy is looking for an active family who will take him for long walks and who can spend time brushing him out to help him maintain his rugged good looks. Rumor has it that along with trotting through dog parks and chewing on plush toys, Blue happens to enjoy going on car rides. Coupled with his medium build and athletic breed, Blue will be a wonderful traveling companion ready for any adventure you could throw at him!
